When you think about it, everything about Marinush was always a slow burner. The first Marinush pair of earring came to life around 2007 and it took Marina almost 10 years to make a career out of something she loves doing. It was never about jewelry explicit, but about daydreaming and turning everyday life into a colorful playground, filled with new experiments. It started from tiny details in the form of necklaces (such as animal characters, or flora motifs) and it slowly outgrew itself with ideas about bigger formats.

Fun fact — bigger ideas came from the outside of Marina’s comfort zone and from people that are close to the designer – they became whisperers of entire universe of new possibilities. Once said, it grows somewhere in the back of the creator’s mind. For example, Žana, one of her best friends dared to daydream about bedding and drapes. From wallpapers and kitchen accessories, to umbrellas and raincoats. There are still ideas waiting to be realized sometime in the future.

From time to time, she would play with the idea of how her designs would transpose to textile. How she’d have to layer the little creatures and shapes into much more complex collages then she does with clay. And then she’d actually do it. She’d hand-draw a full design, scan it, layer all the shapes into a design that would fit on fabric and let it rest.
